Alberta is a province of Canada with its capital at Edmonton. Calgary, located in southern Alberta, is its most populous city and Alberta's economic hub. Other major cities and towns include Banff, Camrose, Fort Lethbridge, McMurray, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Lloydminster, and Medicine Hat.

As of 2004, the Alberta's population was 3.2 million. Over 80% live in urban areas. Alberta is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, a daughter of Queen Victoria.
